Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement - 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the camshaft position actuator adjuster. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Adjuster Replacement .
  2. Remove the timing belt tensioner. Refer to Timing Belt Tensioner Replacement : 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH .

  4. Remove the 4 timing belt rear cover bolts (2).
  5. Note: Oil can escape. Use a cloth, rag or paper to take the oil drain away from all timing components.

  6. Remove the timing belt rear cover (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the 4 timing belt rear cover threads.
  2. Apply locking compound to the 4 NEW timing belt rear cover bolts.

  3. 2026845

    Note: If the cover is contaminated with oil. You have to clean it close.

  4. Install the timing belt rear cover (1).
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Install the 4 timing belt rear cover bolts (2) and tighten to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
  7. Install the timing belt tensioner. Refer to Timing Belt Tensioner Replacement : 1.6L LDE, LXV, 1.8L 2H0, LUW and LFH .
  8. Install the camshaft position actuator adjuster. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Adjuster Replacement .
