Clutch Actuator Cylinder Replacement - F40-6

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .

    Warning: When adding fluid to the brake fluid reservoir or to the clutch fluid reservoir, use only DOT-4+ brake fluid from a clean, sealed container. This polyglycol brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture. Do not use fluid from an open container that may be contaminated with water. Brake fluid must not be contaminated with mineral oil. Improper or contaminated fluid could result in system failure, loss of vehicle control, and possible injury. Complaints because of, or defects caused by contaminated brake fluid will not be accepted by GM warranty.

  3. Remove swivel nut (1) from clutch actuator cylinder.

  5. Remove 3 clutch actuator cylinder bolts (3).
  6. Remove clutch actuator cylinder (1).
  7. Note: Discard clutch actuator cylinder seal.

  8. Remove clutch actuator cylinder seal (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean 3 clutch actuator cylinder threads in clutch housing.

  2. 2191458
  3. Install NEW clutch actuator cylinder seal (2).
  4. Install clutch actuator cylinder (1).
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Install 3 NEW clutch actuator cylinder bolts (3) and tighten to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  8. Install swivel nut (1) to clutch actuator cylinder and tighten to 14 N·m (124 lb in).
  9. Install transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
