The brake booster vacuum switch monitors the amount of vacuum available to the power brake booster. When the vacuum within the system drops, the switch within the brake booster vacuum switch closes allowing voltage to be supplied to the brake booster pump motor.

Verify that a vacuum leak is not present within the power brake booster system, refer to Brake Assist System Diagnosis .
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test or replace the M9 Brake Booster Pump Motor. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. |
⇒ | If the M9 Brake Servo Pump Motor is not active, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the M9 Brake Booster Pump Motor. |
⇒ | If the M9 Brake Servo Pump Motor does not activate, replace the M9 Brake Servo Pump Motor. |
