Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement

Warning: In order to avoid personal injury, do not remove the cap or open the cooling system drains from a hot system. Allow the system to cool first.

1. Drain the system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
2. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
3. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
4. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Pipe Replacement .



5. Remove the coolant thermostat housing bolts and nuts.
6. Remove the coolant thermostat housing.

1. Install the coolant thermostat housing.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the engine coolant thermostat housing bolts and nuts and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
3. Install the EGR pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Pipe Replacement .



4. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
5. Connect the coolant hoses.
6. Replenish the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
