Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning: In order to avoid personal injury, do not remove the cap or open the cooling system drains from a hot system. Allow the system to cool first.
- Drain the system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
- Disconnect the coolant hoses.
- Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
- Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Pipe Replacement .
- Remove the coolant thermostat housing bolts and nuts.
- Remove the coolant thermostat housing.
Installation Procedure
- Install the coolant thermostat housing.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the engine coolant thermostat housing bolts and nuts and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the EGR pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Pipe Replacement .
- Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
- Connect the coolant hoses.
- Replenish the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
