Differential Case Assemble

DT-46612 Bushing/Seal Installation Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools

1. Insert the differential left side bearing (2).

Note: Coat the inner parts of the bearing, washer, shim, etc. with gear fluid.

2. Install the differential left side bearing (2) using the DT-46612 bushing, seal installation tool (1), and hammer.



3. Insert the speedometer drive gear (3).
4. Insert the differential right side bearing (2).
5. Install the right side bearing using the DT-46612 bushing, seal installation tool (1), and hammer.



6. Insert the thrust adjusting shims to the side gears.
7. Install the side gears (1).

Note: Install the pinion gears and washers simultaneously. Engage both pinion gears symmetrically with the side gear to the opening of the case, then install it by rotating the side gear to align the pinion gear hole with the shaft mounting hole.

8. Install the pinion gears and washers (2) simultaneously.



9. Insert the pinion gear shaft (2) into the gear pin hole by rotating.
10. Install the new pinion gear shaft pin (1) using a pin punch and hammer.



11. Secure the differential assembly in a vice.
12. Install the differential ring gear (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

13. Install the 8 new ring gear bolts (2) and tighten to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
14. Install the differential assembly. Refer to Transmission Assemble .
