Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
2. Remove the floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
3. Remove the radio assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement .
4. Remove the heater and air conditioning control. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .
5. Remove the steering column lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement .
6. Remove the steering column upper trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement .
7. Remove both instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
8. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .



9. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
10. Remove the steering column nuts (1) and remove the steering column assembly from the bracket.



11. Remove the instrument panel bolts (1) and the passenger airbag module bracket bolts (2).



12. Disconnect the passenger airbag module electrical connector.
13. Remove both front speakers. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement .
14. Remove the instrument panel defroster grille (1).
15. Remove the instrument panel bolts (2).
16. Remove the instrument panel screws (3).



17. Remove the instrument panel screw (1) behind the instrument panel on driver side.
18. Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle.

1. Install the instrument panel assembly on the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the instrument panel screw (1) behind the I/P on the driver side and tighten to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).



3. Install the instrument panel screws (3) and tighten to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
4. Install the instrument panel bolts (2) and tighten to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
5. Install the instrument panel defroster grille (1).
6. Install both front speakers. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement .



7. Connect the passenger airbag module electrical connector.
8. Install the instrument panel bolts (1) and tighten to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
9. Install the passenger airbag module bracket bolts (2) and tighten to 11.5 N·m (8 lb ft).



10. Install the steering column and tighten the nuts (1) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
11. Install the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
12. Install the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
13. Install both instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
14. Install the steering column upper trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement .
15. Install the steering column lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement .
16. Install the heater and air conditioning control. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .
17. Install the radio assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement .
18. Install the floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
19. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
