Front Brake Hose Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose and the brake pipe fittings.
- Disconnect the brake pipe fitting (1) from the brake hose (2).
Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove the brake hose retaining clip (1) from the brake hose mounting bracket on the body frame.
- Detach the brake hose from the brake hose mounting bracket.
- Detach the brake hose (1) from the strut mounted brake hose retaining bracket (2).
- Remove the brake hose-to-brake calliper banjo retaining bolt (1).
- Remove the two copper brake hose sealing washers (2) from the brake hose (3).
Discard the two copper brake hose sealing washers.
- Remove the brake hose (3) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Assemble the brake hose-to-brake calliper banjo retaining bolt (1) with 2 new copper brake hose sealing washers (2) to the brake hose (3).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the brake hose assembly to the calliper and tighten the banjo retaining bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose (1) to the strut mounted brake hose retaining bracket (2).
- Install the brake hose to the brake hose mounting bracket on the body frame.
- Install the brake hose retaining clip (1) to the brake hose mounting bracket.
- Connect the brake pipe fitting (1) to the brake hose (2) and tighten to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding : Pressure → Manual .
- Install the tyre and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
