Rear Brake Hose Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose ends and brake pipe fittings.

  5. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting (1) from the brake hose at the rear brake pipe side.
  6. Cap or plug the brake pipe fitting end to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  7. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting (1) from the brake hose at the wheel cylinder side.
  8. Cap or plug the brake pipe fitting end to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  9. Remove the brake hose retaining clip (1) from the brake hose mounting bracket on the body frame.
  10. Detach the brake hose from the brake hose mounting bracket.

  12. Remove the brake hose retaining clip (1) from the brake hose mounting bracket on the rear axle.
  13. Remove the brake hose from the brake hose mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake hose to the brake hose mounting bracket on the rear axle.
  2. Install the brake hose retaining clip (1) onto the hose fitting at the brake hose mounting bracket.

  4. Install the brake hose to the brake hose mounting bracket on the body frame.
  5. Install the brake hose retaining clip (1) onto the hose fitting at the brake hose mounting bracket.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Connect the brake pipe fitting (1) to the brake hose at the wheel cylinder side and tighten to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  9. Connect the brake pipe fitting (1) to the brake hose at the rear brake pipe side and tighten to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
  10. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding : Pressure → Manual .
  11. Install the tyre and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
