Road Test

A road test is carried out to assess the problem accurately and as a post-maintenance check.

  1. Check the ATF level and condition. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check .
  2. Note:

       • When carrying out the road test, pay attention to the traffic situation and keep in mind.
       • The shift diagram shows the speed at which shifting starts. The vehicle speed at which shifting has been completed when accelerating differs 2-8 km/h from that of the diagram. Refer to Shift Speed .

  3. Drive the vehicle to check that the shift points concur with the shift diagram. Check that neither shift shock nor noise occur.

P Range Test

Warning: When performing this check, the vehicle could move suddenly. Personal injury or property damage may result. Make sure there is enough room around the vehicle, in case the vehicle does move. Be ready to apply the regular brake immediately should the vehicle begin to move.

  1. Select a surface with more than 5 degree gradient. Park the vehicle on an upward slope and select P range. Release the parking brake to check that the vehicle does not move.
  2. Under the same conditions, check that the vehicle moves when the selector lever is moved from P range to the other ranges.
  3. Similarly, carry out the test on a downward slope.
