First Gear, First Range

Since the shift solenoid valves A and B are ON, pilot pressure operates the shift valves A and B. Since the manual valve is positioned for the first range, oil pressure which has passed through the shift valves A and B is applied to the low and reverse brake.

Therefore, line pressure passes through the manual valve and shift valves A and B, and then operates the low clutch and the low and reverse brake. Since the low and reverse brake is operated, engine braking occurs when the accelerator pedal is released.
