Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .



3. Remove the oil filter, using suitable tool.
4. Discard the oil filter.



5. Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug (1).
6. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) from the oil pan (2).
7. Allow the oil to drain completely.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




1. Install the oil sump drain plug (1) to the oil sump (2) and tighten the oil sump drain plug to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).



2. Install the NEW oil filter.
3. Install the oil filter using suitable tool.
4. Tighten the oil filter to 14 N·m (124 lb in).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations and Approximate Fluid Capacities .
