Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies a reference voltage of 12 V to the yaw rate sensor/lateral acceleration sensor and the steering angle sensor. The sensor supply voltage is monitored via an internal feedback circuit to the EBCM microprocessor.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • Ignition ON
    • Ignition voltage is greater than 8.0 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The EBCM detects that the sensor supply voltage feedback indicates that the voltage level is less or greater than 1.0 V for more than 100 msec, a fault is set.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM turns OFF the 12 V reference circuit, until the ignition is cycled.
    • The EBCM disables the vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • A warning indicator on the information display module may be displayed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present and the DTC is cleared with a scan tool.
    • The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

If the yaw and lateral accelerometer sensor is disconnected, DTCs will set and the EBCM will not provide 12 V reference.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the yaw rate and lateral acceleration sensor connector.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
  3. If greater than 1 ohm, test the circuit between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and the ground G200 or G201 for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the yaw rate sensor/lateral acceleration sensor.
  4. Test the lateral accelerometer 12 V reference circuit terminal 5, for an open/high resistance or a short circuit to voltage or ground.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the yaw rate sensor/lateral acceleration sensor.
If the DTC sets again after replacing the yaw rate sensor/lateral acceleration sensor, replace the EBCM.
