Circuit/System Description
The ECM monitors the battery voltage to ensure that the voltage stays within the proper range. Damage to components and incorrect data may occur if the voltage is out of range.
Conditions for Running the DTC
P0562 (Without FX3)
• | The DTC runs continuously when the above conditions are met. |
P0563 (Without FX3)
• | The DTC runs at the end of power catch before switching off the ECM. |
P0562 or P0563 (FX3)
• | The DTC runs continuously when the above conditions are met. |
Conditions for Setting the DTC
P0562 (Without FX3)
The ECM detects that the system voltage is less than 4.969V or greater than 17.958V for 7.65s.
P0562 (FX3)
The ECM detects that the system voltage is less than 11V.
P0563 (Without FX3)
The ECM detects that the system voltage is greater than 7.9V.
P0563 (FX3)
The ECM detects that the system voltage is greater than 16V.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTC P0562 and P0563 are Type C DTCs.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC P0562 and P0563 are Type C DTCs.
Diagnostic Aids
• | A low or high voltage DTC in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system. |
• | A high voltage DTC could be set by overcharging with a battery charger or jump starting. |

Circuit/System Verification
- Engine running, accessories OFF, verify that the battery voltage at the battery terminals is between 12.6-15.0 V.
- Verify that the scan tool ECM Ignition 1 Signal parameter is between 12.6-15.5 V.
Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 ECM.
- Ignition OFF and scan tool disconnected, open and close the driver door, and wait 1 minute. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminals listed below and ground:
Without FX3)
FX3
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the IGN/B+ circuit terminals listed below and ground:
Without FX3
FX3
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate , test the IGN/B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
- If all circuits test normal, replace the K20 ECM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
