Front Brake Shield Replacement

Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the brake disc. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .
Caution: Support the brake calliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the calliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the calliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
- Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).
- Remove the wheel speed sensor (2).
- Remove the wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the steering knuckle.
- Loosen the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side or Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove and DISCARD the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts (1).
- Remove the wheel bearing/hub (1) and front brake shield (2) from the steering knuckle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the front brake shield (2) and wheel bearing/hub assembly (1) in the steering knuckle.
Warning: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: This is a self-retaining fastener joint that does not require thread locking compounds. Do not attempt to clean the threads with a standard tap. If a standard tap is used, damage to the joint threads will occur.
- Install the NEW wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts (1).
- Tighten the bearing/hub bolts (1) in 3 passes, using the EN-45059 meter

- Install the wheel speed sensor wiring harness to the steering knuckle.
- Install the wheel speed sensor (2).
- Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the brake disc. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .
- Install the wheel drive shaft retaining nut and washer. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side or Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
