Inlet Manifold Installation

Caution: 

   • Use care when servicing the fuel system components, especially the fuel injector electrical connectors, the fuel injector tips, and the injector O-rings. Plug the inlet and the outlet ports of the fuel rail in order to prevent contamination.
   • Do not use compressed air to clean the fuel rail assembly as this may damage the fuel rail components.
   • Do not immerse the fuel rail assembly in a solvent bath in order to prevent damage to the fuel rail assembly.

    Note: Ensure that the inlet manifold and the cylinder head surface are clear of old gasket material.

  1. Install a NEW inlet manifold gasket (1).
  2. Install the inlet manifold (2).

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 2 inlet manifold nuts (5) and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
  4. Install the 9 inlet manifold bolts (4) and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
  5. Install the hose clamp (3).

  6. Install a NEW fuel rail tube (1).
  7. Install the fuel rail tube bolt (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Note: Counter hold the fuel injection pump connector (1) and tighten the fuel rail tube nut (2).

  8. Tighten the fuel rail tube nut (2) to:
    9. • The fuel pump 27 N·m (20 lb ft)
    • The fuel rail 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
