Sump Installation

1. Clean the sealing surfaces.
2. Apply approximately a 3.5 mm (0.138 in) thick bead of sump sealant to the joints (arrows). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the recommended sealant.




Note: The assembly time, including torque check, must take no longer than 10 minutes.

3. Apply approximately a 3.5 mm (0.138 in) thick bead of sump sealant (1) to the sump. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the recommended sealant.



4. Install the sump (2).
5. Install the 15 sump bolts (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

6. Tighten the sump bolts on the cylinder block to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
