Immobiliser Description and Operation

The remote function receiver module provides a coil which is installed on the column lock. This coil is used to read out the transponder information of the key. The keys used must be learned to the vehicle. The transponder information is used to determine whether the engine may be engaged or not.

The immobilizer function is performed as an interaction between several control modules. If any condition within this function is not met, the engine will not be engaged and the starter, fuel injection and spark are disabled. In addition, an indicator in the instrument cluster indicates the error.
