Circuit | Short to Ground | Open/High Resistance | Short to Voltage | Signal Performance |
---|---|---|---|---|
Brake Fluid Level Switch Signal | 1 | C0267 00 | -- | -- |
Brake Fluid Level Switch Ground | -- | C0267 00 | -- | -- |
Park Brake Switch Signal | 3 | 2 | -- | -- |
1. Brake warning indicator will not turn on when fluid is low. 2. Brake warning indicator will not turn on when Handbrake is applied. 3. Brake warning indicator will always be on. |
The brake fluid level switch monitors the level of brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. When the electronic brake control module (EBCM) sees the brake fluid level switch input closed, the DTC is set.
Ignition ON
• | An open is detected on the brake fluid level signal circuit for 20 s. |
• | Low brake fluid level is detected for 20 s. |
• | The EBCM disables the traction control and stability control for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | The traction control/stability control-active indicator turns ON. |
• | The brake warning indicator turns ON. |
The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.

⇒ | If low, refer to Brake Fluid Loss . |
⇒ | If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). |
⇒ | If less than the specified value, replace the B20 Brake Fluid Level Switch. |
