1. Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Malfunction 2. Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Exterior Switch Malfunction |
The exterior rear compartment lid unlatch switch receives a signal from the body control module (BCM). When the exterior rear compartment lid unlatch switch is activated the signal circuit is pulled to ground. The BCM applies battery positive voltage to the boot unlatch relay control circuit which energises the relay. The boot unlatch relay is grounded at all times. With the relay coil energised, the relay switch contacts close allowing battery voltage to flow to the rear compartment lid unlatch actuator causing the rear compartment lid to unlatch.

⇒ | If the rear compartment lid latch is inoperative, refer to Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Malfunction. |
⇒ | If the rear compartment lid latch is inoperative, refer to Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Exterior Switch Malfunction. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the M41 Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Actuator does not activate, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the M41 Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Actuator. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp continuously illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S58A Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Switch - Exterior. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S58A Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Switch - Exterior. |
⇒ | If the actuator does not perform as specified, replace the M41 Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Actuator. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the S58A Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Switch - Exterior. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the S58A Rear Compartment Lid Unlatch Switch - Exterior. |
