Oil Filter Adapter and Oil Cooler Assembly Replacement

1. Remove engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
2. Raise vehicle by its full height. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
3. Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
4. Drain the cooling fluid. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .



5. Remove the heat shield nut (1).
6. Remove the heat shield bolt (3).
7. Remove the heat shield (2).



8. Remove the 2 hose clamps (1).
9. Remove the engine oil cooler coolant outlet hose (2).



10. Remove the 2 hose clamps (1).
11. Remove the engine oil cooler coolant inlet hose (2).



12. Drain the engine oil into collecting basin.
13. Remove the oil filter housing oil drain bolt (5) with oil filter housing drain gasket (4) and drain the engine oil in the oil filter housing.
14. Lower the vehicle full height.
15. Remove the oil filter cap (1) with oil filter cap gasket (2).
16. Remove the oil filter (3).
17. Remove the oil filter housing bolt (11).
18. Remove the oil filter housing (10).
19. Remove the oil filter housing gasket (9).
20. Remove the engine oil cooler bolt (8).




Note: Consider and note the engine oil cooler position for reinstalling.

21. Remove the engine oil cooler (1).



22. Remove the engine oil cooler gasket (6).

Note: Coat the gasket with new engine oil.

1. Install a NEW engine oil cooler gasket (6).




Note: Consider the marked installation position.

2. Install the engine oil cooler (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




3. Install the engine oil cooler bolt (8) and tighten to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

Note: Coat the gasket with new engine oil.

4. Install a NEW oil filter housing gasket (9).
5. Install the oil filter housing (10).
6. Install the oil filter housing oil drain plug gasket (5)
7. Install the oil filter housing bolt (11) and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
8. Install the oil filter housing oil drain plug (4) and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb ft).
9. Install a NEW oil filter (3).
10. Install the oil filter cap (1) with a NEW oil filter cap gasket (2) and tighten to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).
11. Raise the vehicle full height.



12. Install the engine oil cooler coolant inlet hose (2).
13. Install the 2 hose clamps (1).



14. Install the engine oil cooler coolant outlet hose (2).
15. Install the 2 hose clamps (1).



16. Install the heat shield (2).
17. Install the heat shield bolt (3) and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
18. Install the heat shield nut (1) and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
19. Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
20. Lower the vehicle full height.
21. Fill in cooling fluid. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
22. Install engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
