Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement
Removal Procedure
- Open bonnet.
- Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
Warning: Petrol or petrol vapours are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store petrol or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
- Remove the fuel feed hose. Refer to Fuel Hose Replacement - Fuel Injection Pump to Fuel Feed Block .
Note: Place caps on the open fuel rail connectors to avoid contamination from dust as soon as the fuel rail tubes are removed.
- Remove the 4 fuel injection fuel rail pipes (1).
- Disconnect the fuel rail fuel pressure sensor wiring harness plug.
- Remove the 2 fuel rail nuts (3).
- Remove the fuel rail (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the fuel rail (2).
- Install the 2 fuel rail nuts (3).
- Connect the fuel rail fuel pressure sensor wiring harness plug.
- Install 4 NEW fuel injection fuel rail tubes (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: Counter hold the injector tube connector (2) and tighten the fuel rail tube to injector nut (1).
- Tighten the fuel rail tube nuts (1) to:
• | Fuel injectors 27 N·m (20 lb ft) |
• | The fuel rail 20 N·m (15 lb ft) |
- Install the fuel feed hose. Refer to Fuel Hose Replacement - Fuel Injection Pump to Fuel Feed Block .
- Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
- Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
