Starter Replacement - 1.6L LXT,L2W

1. Open the bonnet.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
3. Remove the starter negative cable nut and the starter negative cable.
4. Remove the starter positive cable nut and the starter positive cable.



5. Remove the 2 starter bolts (2).
6. Remove the starter (1).

1. Install the starter (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install 2 the starter motor bolts (2) and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
3. Remove the starter positive cable nut and the starter positive cable and tighten to 12.5 N·m (110 lb in)..
4. Remove the starter negative cable nut and the starter negative cable and tighten to 12.5 N·m (110 lb in)..
5. Connect the negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
6. Close the bonnet.
