Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

EN-726-A Oil Filter Spanner

For equivalent regional tools, refer to  Special Tools : 1.6L LXT

1. Open the bonnet.
2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
4. Place a suitable container under the vehicle.



5. Loosen the oil filter withEN-726-A spanner (1).



6. Remove the oil filter (1).



7. Remove the sump oil drain plug (2).
8. Remove the sump oil drain plug gasket (1).
9. Drain the complete oil from the sump.

1. Install a NEW sump oil drain plug gasket (1).
2. Install the sump oil drain plug (2) and tighten to 14 N·m(124 lb in).




Note: Coat the oil filter sealing surface with NEW engine oil.

3. Install the oil filter (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

4. Tighten the oil filter, use the EN-726-A wrench and tighten to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
5. Remove the container.
6. Lower the vehicle.



7. Remove the oil filler cap (2).
8. Remove the oil level indicator (1).



9. Fill in engine oil.
10. Check the oil level with the oil level indicator (1).
11. Fill up to the max. level as shown in the graphic.



12. Install the oil level indicator (1).
13. Install the oil filler cap (2).
14. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
15. Close the bonnet.
