Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Open bonnet.
  2. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the camshaft gears. Refer to Camshaft Gear Replacement .
  4. Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement .

  6. Remove the timing belt idler pulley bolt (2).
  7. Remove the timing belt idler pulley (1).

  9. Remove the 4 engine mount bracket bolts (2 3).
  10. Remove the engine mount bracket (1).

  12. Remove the 3 timing belt tensioner bolts (2).
  13. Remove the timing belt tensioner (1).

  15. Remove the 4 timing belt rear cover bolts (1, 3).
  16. Remove the timing belt rear cover (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the timing belt rear cover (2).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 4 timing belt rear cover bolts (1 3) and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Clean the timing belt tensioner threads.
  6. Install the timing belt tensioner (1).

  8. Install the engine mount bracket (1).
  9. Install the 4 engine mount bracket bolts (2 3) and tighten to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
  10. Install the 3 timing belt tensioner bolts (2) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Clean the timing belt idler pulley bolt thread inside the cylinder head.
  13. Install the timing belt idler pulley (1).
  14. Install the timing belt idler pulley bolt (2) and tighten to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
  15. Install the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement .
  16. Install the camshaft gears. Refer to Camshaft Gear Replacement .
  17. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  18. Close the bonnet.
