Camshaft Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the bonnet.
  2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
  3. Remove the timing belt upper front cover. Refer to Timing Belt Upper Front Cover Replacement
  4. Note: Mark the cable positions for reinstalling.

  5. Remove the ignition cables from the ignition coils to the spark plugs.
  6. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor wiring harness plug.

  8. Disconnect the 2 crankcase ventilation hoses (1 , 2).

  10. Remove the 11 camshaft cover bolts (2).
  11. Remove the Remove the camshaft cover (1).
  12. Remove the camshaft cover gasket (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the camshaft cover and the cylinder head surfaces.
  2. Install an NEW camshaft cover gasket (3).
  3. Install the camshaft cover (1).
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the 11 bolts (2) and tighten evenly to 10 N·m (89 lb in)
  6. Note: Wire routing (marked position) must be kept intact during service and followed exactly when wires have been disconnected or when replacement of the wires is necessary. Failure to route the wires correctly can lead to radio interference and crossfire of the plugs, or shorting of the leads to the ground.

  7. Install the ignition cables from the ignition coils to the spark plugs.
  8. Connect the camshaft position sensor wiring harness plug.

  10. Connect the 2 crankcase ventilation hoses (1, 2).
  11. Install the timing belt upper front cover. Refer to Timing Belt Upper Front Cover Replacement .
  12. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
  13. Close the bonnet.
