Sump Cleaning and Inspection

1. Clean the sump (4). Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits.
2. Remove old seal material (1).
3. Remove the sump drain plug (3) and the sump drain plug seal (2).
4. Inspect the thread of the sump drain plug.
5. Inspect the sump for cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points.
6. Inspect the sump for cracking resulting from impact or flying road debris.
7. Repair or replace the sump as necessary.
