Timing Belt Removal

Special Tools

For equivalent regional tools, Refer to Special Tools : 1.6L LXT .

1. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.
2. Set the engine to top dead centre (TDC) (1, 2).
3. The crankshaft sprocket mark and the rear cover mark must align (1, 2).




Note: Turn the engine in direction of engine rotation.

4. The camshaft sprocket marks must align (1).
5. Install the EN-852 locking tool between the camshaft sprockets.



6. Slightly loosen the water pump bolts.
7. Rotate the water pump anticlockwise, using the EN-42492 installer (1) to relieve the timing belt tension.
8. Remove the timing belt (2).
