Front Wheel Drive Shaft Seal Replacement - Left Side

Special Tools

    • DT-48230 Differential Bearing Race and Shaft Seal Ring Installer
    •  DT-48179 Universal Driver Handle

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

    Caution: While using a prise bar to remove the axle seal, use extreme care not to damage the bearing adjusting ring on the transmission case.

  1. Remove and discard the left front wheel drive shaft from the transmission. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side .
  2. Remove the left front wheel drive shaft seal (1) by lifting the outer lip of the seal with a prise-bar.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the NEW front wheel drive shaft seal using the DT-48179 driver handle with DT-48230 installer and a hammer.
  2. Coat the seal lips with NEW transmission oil.
  3. Install the left front wheel drive shaft to the transmission (1). Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side .
