Exhaust Rear Silencer Replacement

CH-6614 Chain Pipe Cutter
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the 2 exhaust rear silencer hanger insulators (3) from the exhaust rear silencer (4).
- Remove the exhaust rear silencer end pipe bracket bolt (1) from the exhaust rear silencer end pipe bracket (2).
- Remove the exhaust rear silencer end pipe bracket (2).
Note: Support the exhaust rear silencer with a jack.
Note: Only necessary if the new exhaust rear silencer is not equipped with the exhaust rear silencer end pipe.
- Cut the exhaust rear silencer (4) with CH-6614 cutter (2) at position (3) and remove the exhaust rear silencer end pipe.
- Cut the exhaust rear silencer (4) at position (1).
- Remove the exhaust rear muffler.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust rear silencer (6) and hang in the 2 exhaust rear silencer hanger insulators (5).
- Install the exhaust pipe clamp (1) and loosely tighten.
- Install the exhaust rear silencer end pipe bracket (3) to the exhaust rear silencer end pipe.
Note: Only necessary if the new exhaust rear silencer is not equipped with the exhaust rear silencer end pipe.
- Install the exhaust rear silencer end pipe .
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the exhaust rear silencer end pipe bracket bolt (4) to the exhaust rear silencer end pipe bracket (3) and tighten to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe clamp (2) and loosely tighten.
- Position the exhaust rear silencer.
- Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp (1) to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Position the exhaust rear silencer end pipe.
- Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp (2) to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
