The evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve is used to purge fuel vapour from the EVAP canister to the inlet manifold. The EVAP canister purge valve is pulse width modulated (PWM). Ignition voltage is supplied directly to the EVAP canister purge valve. The engine control module (ECM) controls the solenoid by grounding the control circuit with a solid state device called a driver. The driver is equipped with a feedback circuit that is pulled-up to a voltage. The ECM can determine if the control circuit is open, shorted to ground, or shorted to a voltage by monitoring the feedback voltage.
• | The ignition is ON. |
• | The ignition voltage is between 11-18 V. |
• | The DTCs runs continuously once the above conditions are met. |
The ECM detects that the commanded state of the driver and the actual state of the control circuit do not match for greater than 5 s.
DTCs P0443 00 is a Type B DTCs.
DTCs P0443 00 is a Type B DTCs.

⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage supply circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the voltage supply circuit fuse F11 is open, test all components connected to the ignition voltage circuit and repair as necessary or replace the Q12 Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Valve. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, repair the short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the Q12 Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Valve control circuit for a short circuit to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not correspond as commanded, replace the K20 Engine Control Module. |
⇒ | If not within the specified range, replace the Q12 Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Valve. |
⇒ | If not within the specified value, replace the Q12 Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Valve. |
