Circuit/System Description

When the body control module (BCM) receives a boot open signal, the BCM supplies B+ to the cargo lamp control circuit. This will illuminate the cargo lamp.

Circuit/System Verification

Observe the driver information centre while opening and closing the boot. The driver information centre should display the boot ajar message only when the boot is open.

⇒	If the driver information centre displays the boot ajar message when the boot is closed, refer to Door Ajar Indicator Malfunction .

Circuit/System Testing

Note: Circuit/System Verification must be performed before Circuit/System Testing.

Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the E8S Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp.
Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.

⇒	If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

Connect a test lamp between the E8S Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
The test lamp should turn ON when the boot is open and OFF after about 60 s when the boot is closed.

⇒	If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.

⇒	If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.

If the all circuits test normal, replace the E8S Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp.

Repair Instructions
