Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement
Removal Procedure
Open the bonnet.
Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Place a pan below the vehicle to catch the draining coolant.
Drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
Lower the vehicle.
Loosen the radiator inlet hose clamp (4).
Remove the radiator inlet hose (3) from the engine coolant thermostat (5).
Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine coolant thermostat heater connector (1).
Remove the three engine coolant thermostat bolts (2).
Remove the engine coolant thermostat assembly (3).
Installation Procedure
Install the engine coolant thermostat assembly (3).
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the three engine coolant thermostat bolts (2) and tighten to
10 N·m (89 lb in)
.
Install the radiator inlet hose (3) to the engine coolant thermostat (5).
Install the radiator inlet hose clamp (4).
Connect the electrical connector to the engine coolant thermostat heater connector (1).
Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
.
Close the bonnet.
