Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

Note: Adjust the automatic transmission range selector cable while the transmission and the gear selector are in the Park position only. Failure to do so may cause miss-adjustment.

1. Set the park brake and chock the wheels.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
3. Verify the transmission range select lever is in the park (P) position.
4. Verify the transmission manual gear lever is in the P position.



5. Disconnect the transmission range selector lever cable terminal (1) from the transmission range selector lever.
6. Press the retainer clip tabs inward in order to release the transmission range selector lever cable (2) from the cable bracket.



7. Pull up on the cable adjuster (1) from the cable adjuster guide (2).



8. Install the transmission range selector lever cable (2) to the cable bracket.
9. Connect the range selector lever cable adjuster (1) to the transmission range selector lever pin.



10. Pull up on the cable adjuster guide (1) to secure in place.
11. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
12. Check the transmission range select lever in all gear selections for proper operation.
