Shock Absorber Replacement
Removal Procedure
Apply the handbrake completely.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Support the rear tyre with a hydraulic jack stand.
Remove the shock absorber strut to rear axle retaining bolt (1).
Remove the jack stand.
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the rear wheel housing trim finish panel. Refer to
Rear Wheel Housing Trim Finish Panel Replacement
.
Remove the strut upper cap (1) from the shock absorber strut.
Remove the strut nut (2) from the shock absorber strut.
Remove the upper mounting plate (3), the upper mount assembly (4) and the washer (5) from the shock absorber strut.
Remove the shock absorber strut assembly from the vehicle.
Remove the lower mount assembly (1), the washer (2), the jounce bumper (3), and the dust shield (4) from the strut (5).
Installation Procedure
Install the lower mount assembly (1), the washer (2), the jounce bumper (3), and the dust shield (4) to the strut (5).
Position the shock absorber strut assembly to the vehicle.
Install the upper mounting plate (3), the upper mount assembly (4) and the washer (5) to the shock absorber strut.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the strut upper mounting nut (2) to the shock absorber strut and tighten to
20 N·m (15 lb ft)
.
Install the strut upper cap (1) to the shock absorber strut.
Install the rear wheel housing trim finish panel. Refer to
Rear Wheel Housing Trim Finish Panel Replacement
.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Support the rear tyre with the hydraulic jack stand.
Install the shock absorber strut to rear axle retaining bolt (1) and tighten to
60 N·m (44 lb ft)
.
Remove the hydraulic jack stand.
Lower the vehicle.
