Rear Spring Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the handbrake completely.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Support the tyre to be replaced with a hydraulic jack stand.
  4. Remove the shock absorber strut to rear axle retaining bolt. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  5. Lower the hydraulic jack stand.
  6. Note: The opposite strut to rear axle retaining bolt must be removed so that the rear axle can turn down easily.

    KEEP supporting the tyre with the hydraulic jack stand to prevent the rear brake hose and rear wheel speed sensor harness from being damaged.

  7. Support the opposite tyre with the hydraulic jack stand.
  8. Remove the opposite strut to rear axle retaining bolt. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  9. Using the hydraulic jack stand, slowly lower the rear axle until the tension is not applied to the rear brake hose and rear wheel speed sensor harness.

  11. With the hydraulic jack stand supported, remove the spring (1) from the vehicle.

  13. Remove the spring upper insulator (1) from the upper spring seat on the underbody rear side rail.

  15. Remove the spring lower insulator (1) from the lower spring seat on the rear axle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the spring lower insulator (1) to the lower spring seat on the rear axle.

  3. Install the spring upper insulator (1) to the upper spring seat on the underbody rear side rail.

  5. Install the spring (1) to the vehicle, making sure the lower coil is seated into the lower spring seat.
  6. Raise the hydraulic jack stand in order to compress the rear spring.
  7. Install the shock absorber strut to rear axle retaining bolt. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  8. Raise the hydraulic jack stand in order to compress the opposite rear spring.
  9. Install the opposite shock absorber strut to rear axle retaining bolt. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  10. Remove the hydraulic jack stand.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
