Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement — Left Hand Drive
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times until it becomes firm to deplete the brake booster vacuum reserve.
- Remove the master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement : Right Hand Drive → Left Hand Drive .
- Remove the power vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly from the brake booster grommet.
- Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
- Remove the retaining clip (1) and pin (2) from brake pedal.
- Separate the brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal.
- Remove the brake booster to accelerator, brake and clutch (ABC) pedal module retaining nuts (1) from the ABC pedal module.
- Remove the power vacuum brake booster (1).
- Remove the power vacuum brake booster gasket (1).
Inspect the power vacuum brake booster gasket for damage and replace if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the power vacuum brake booster gasket (1).
- Install the power vacuum brake booster (1).
- Loosely install the brake booster to ABC pedal module retaining nuts (1).
- Connect the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal.
- Install the pushrod pin (2) to the brake pedal and insert the retaining clip (1) to the pin (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Completely tighten the brake booster to ABC pedal module retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
- Install the power vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly to the brake booster grommet.
- Install the master cylinder . Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement : Right Hand Drive → Left Hand Drive .
