Visual Check

    • Inspect for dented valve body covers.
    • Inspect for a clogged oil filter.

Oil Pump

Inspect for damaged or worn oil pump gears.

Error in Engine Auxiliaries

Inspect for noisy engine auxiliaries.

Noise When Selector Is Moved

Checks

Causes

Line Pressure OK

    • Inspect for a low clutch assembly.
    • Inspect for a burned or worn low clutch.
    • Inspect for reverse clutch assembly.
    • Inspect for a burned or worn reverse clutch.

Line Pressure out of Range

    • Inspect for a malfunction of control valve spool.
    • Inspect for seized or broken pump gears.

Noise When Vehicle Is Moving

Checks

Causes

Tone Change according to Engine Speed

    • Inspect for dented valve body covers.
    • Inspect for a clogged oil filter.
    • Inspect for an error in the oil pump rotor.
    • Inspect for the torque converter.

Tone Change according to Vehicle Speed in Specific Range other than Third Gear

Inspect for damaged or worn planetary gears.

Tone Change according to Vehicle Speed in All Ranges

    • Inspect for damaged or worn output and final gears.
    • Inspect for a flawed or worn low one-way clutch.
    • Inspect for a flawed or worn bearing.
    • Inspect for a rattle or abnormality in the vehicle drive shaft.
    • Inspect for a worn or flawed vehicle wheel bearing.

Noise from Engine Auxiliary

Inspect for errors related to engine auxiliary.

Noise When Shifting

Line Pressure OK

    • Inspect for a damaged planetary gear.
    • Inspect for a worn planetary gear.

Line Pressure out of Range

    • Inspect for a damage planetary gear.
    • Inspect for a malfunction of the control valve spool.
