Drive Belt Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the bonnet.
  2. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .

  4. Note the routing of the drive belt.
  5. Remove the power steering pump belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  6. Raise the vehicle.

  8. Remove the right front compartment splash shield (1).

  9. 2327997
  10. Rotate the inner hex of the tensioner nut anti-clockwise and loosen the nut.
  11. Rotate the outer hex of the tensioner nut clockwise and put down the tensioner.
  12. Remove the drive belt.

Installation Procedure

    Note: Make sure the drive belt is correctly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.

  1. Install and correctly route the drive belt around the following:
  2. • Water pump pulley
    • Alternator
    • Drive belt tensioner
    • Crankshaft balancer
    • Air conditioning compressor
    • Idler pulley
    • Power steering pump

  3. Rotate the outer hex of the tensioner nut anti-clockwise and put up the tensioner with a suitable interchangeable head, click-type torque spanner.
  4. Tighten

        • New Belt: 24 N·m (18 lb ft)
        • Used Belt: 17.5 N·m (13 lb ft)
  5. Rotate the inner hex of the tensioner nut clockwise and tighten the nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
  6. Install the power steering pump belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .

  8. Install the right front compartment splash shield (1).
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
