Circuit/System Description

The wiper washer pump operation is controlled by supplying ignition voltage through the wiper switch to the wiper washer pump control circuits. Ignition voltage is supplied though the WIPER, REAR fuse.

Circuit/System Verification
  1. Ignition ON, verify that the front windscreen wipers operate.
    2. ⇒If the front windscreen wipers do not operate, refer to Windscreen Wiper System Malfunction .
  2. Verify the rear window wiper operates.
    3. ⇒If the rear window wiper does not operate, refer to Rear Wiper System Malfunction .
  3. Verify the window wiper washer operates.
    4. ⇒If the wiper washer does not operate, refer to Washer Malfunction .

Circuit/System Testing
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the wiring harness plug at the windscreen wiper/washer switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    3. ⇒If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, connect the harness at the windscreen wiper/washer switch. Disconnect the wiring harness plug at the appropriate wiper washer pump.
  4. Test for less than 1 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    5. ⇒If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  6. Observe the test light while applying the appropriate washer switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when applying and releasing the switch.
    7. ⇒If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the wiper switch.
    ⇒If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the wiper switch.
    ⇒If all circuits test normal replace the appropriate wiper washer pump.
