Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the interior tailgate trim panel. Refer to Tailgate Trim Panel Replacement : Long Body  → Short Body .
2. Disconnect the electrical connector for the number plate lamps.
3. Disengage the electrical harness grommet from the outer tailgate panel.
4. Disconnect the lock rod to the outside tailgate handle.

Tailgate Centre Applique Nut (Qty: 5)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
3.5 N·m (31 lb in)

Electrical Harness Grommet

Tip
Push the electrical grommet out of the tailgate outer panel.

Button Clip

Tip
Carefully release the button clip from the tailgate panel.

Tailgate Centre Applique Assembly

Procedure

Transfer the internal parts as needed to the new centre applique panel.
