Piston, Connecting Rod, and Bearing Installation

EN-50425 Piston Ring Compressor

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

1. Lubricate the piston rings, piston (2), inner cylinder bore surface and EN-50425 piston ring compressor (1) with clean engine oil.



2. Install the pistons with connecting rods (1) push down into the engine block.
3. Install the big end bearings (4) to the big end bearing caps (2).

Note: Take extreme care to prevent any scratches or damages to the connecting rod bearings.

4. Install the connecting rod bearing (4).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

5. Install the connecting rod bearing cap bolts (3) and tighten in two passes:

5.1.	In first pass tighten to 30 N·m (22.1 lb ft).

5.2.	In second pass tighten to 70 degrees.
