Cylinder Head and Gasket Installation

EN-50437 Piston TDC Height Gauge

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

1. Clean the cylinder head surface.
2. Clean the engine block surface.
3. Clean the cylinder head bolts.
4. Clean the engine block bolt holes.

1. Align the TDC of the piston .
2. Clean the cylinder block sealing surface and piston .
3. Measure the piston projection thickness using EN-50437 piston TDC height gauge .
4. Repeat the measuring process on the other cylinders and average the measured piston projection values.
5. Choose the cylinder head gasket through below the specifications.

1. Install the cylinder head (2) and new gasket (3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.





Note: Always use new cylinder head bolts.

2. Install the cylinder head mounting bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the 10 cylinder head bolts in sequence to 30 N·m + 100 N·m + 90° (22.1 lb ft + 90° + 90°).
