Water Pump Replacement - 2.0L Diesel LLW

1. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
2. Remove the fuel injection pump drive pulley. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Drive Pulley Removal .
3. Remove the timing belt rear cover.
4. Remove the timing belt rear cover. Refer to Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement .



5. Remove the 5 water pump bolts (3).
6. Remove the water pump (1).
7. Remove the water pump gasket (2).

1. Inspect the water pump.

Note: 

•	Ensure that the engine block surface and water pump surface are clear of old gasket material.

•	Do not immerse the water pump in solvent. The solvent may enter the water pump's permanently lubricated bearings and cause premature bearing failure.

2. Rotate the water pump drive pulley.




Note: The water pump drive pulley and impeller should turn straight and smoothly. If the drive pulley wobbles, is noisy, or feels rough when rotating, replace the water pump.

3. Install a NEW water pump gasket. (2)
4. Install the water pump (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

5. Install the 5 water pump bolts (3) and tighten to  11 N·m (97 lb in).
6. Install the timing belt rear cover. Refer to Timing Belt Rear Cover Replacement .
7. Install the fuel injection pump drive pulley. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Drive Pulley Removal .
8. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
