Camshaft Housing Installation

1. Clean the sealing surfaces.
2. Inspect the camshaft housing cylinder deck sealing surface for flatness. Use a straightedge. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications . If the camshaft housing (2) is out of specification, replace the camshaft housing. DO NOT machine the camshaft housing.
3. Install a NEW camshaft housing gasket (3).
4. Install the camshaft housing.
5. Install the 10 camshaft housing bolts (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




6. Tighten the 10 camshaft housing bolts in a sequence as shown to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
