Circuit/System Description

The keyless entry control module will detect the keyless entry transmitter when an exterior door handle is pulled and the transmitter is within 1 metre (3 feet) of the door handle, the body control module (BCM) will unlock the doors and send the unlatch enable signal to keyless entry control module.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The system voltage is 9-16 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B252A 02

The keyless entry control module detects a short to voltage for greater than 3 seconds on the driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit.

B252B 02

The keyless entry control module detects a short to voltage for longer than 3 seconds on the door lock control circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

B252A 02

The driver door will require two pulls of their exterior door handle to unlock the door and then to unlatch the door.

B252B 02

The passenger, left rear and right rear doors will require two pulls of their exterior door handles to unlock the doors and then to unlatch the doors.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • This DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC
    • A history DTC will clear after 40 ignition cycles

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Doors locked, approach the vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter and lift the exterior driver door handle. The driver door should unlock and unlatch allowing the driver door to be pulled open.
  2. If the driver door will not unlock and unlatch with a single pull of the driver door handle, refer to Driver Door Release Command Malfunction.
  3. Doors locked, approach the vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter and lift the exterior passenger door handle. The passenger door should unlock and unlatch allowing the passenger door to be pulled open.
  4. If the passenger door will not unlock and unlatch with a single pull of the door handle, refer to Passenger and Rear Door Release Command Malfunction.

Circuit/System Testing

Driver Door Release Command Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the K84 keyless entry control module.
  2. Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  3. If the test lamp is ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.

Passenger and Rear Door Release Command Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the K84 keyless entry control module.
  2. Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 14 and ground.
  3. If the test lamp is ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
