Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) applies battery positive voltage to the lift glass/boot motor release control circuit, which energises the coil side of the rear compartment lid release relay. The switch side of the rear compartment lid release then closes, supplying battery positive voltage through the relay and the relay controlled output circuit to the rear compartment lid latch. The rear compartment lid latch then releases the boot lid so that it may be manually raised to an open position.

Conditions for Running the DTC

When the rear compartment lid latch release is actively being requested by the BCM.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B3265 01

The BCM detects a short to voltage on the rear compartment lid release relay control circuit.

B3265 02

The BCM detects a short to ground on the rear compartment lid release relay control circuit.

B3265 04

The BCM detects an open/high resistance on the rear compartment lid release relay control circuit or an open/high resistance on the relay ground circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The rear compartment lid latch will malfunction.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • This DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, command the M40 rear compartment lid latch to UNLATCH with a scan tool. The M40 rear compartment lid latch should release the boot lid.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the KR95B rear compartment lid release relay.
  2. Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 3.
  5. Ignition ON, command the M40 rear compartment lid latch to UNLATCH with a scan tool, the test lamp should turn ON while commanding the UNLATCH state.
  6. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
    If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the KR95B rear compartment lid release relay.

Component Testing

Relay Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the KR95B rear compartment lid release relay.
  2. Test for 60-180 Ω between terminals 1 and 2.
  3. If the not within the specified range, replace the KR95B rear compartment lid release relay.
  4. Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
  5. • 3 and 2
    • 3 and 5
    • 3 and 1
    • 1 and 5
    If not the specified value, replace the KR95B rear compartment lid release relay.
  6. Install a 5A fused jumper wire between relay terminal 2 and 12V. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 1 and ground. Test for less than 2 Ω between terminals 3 and 5.
  7. If greater than the specified range, replace the KR95B rear compartment lid release relay.

Repair Instructions
