Circuit/System Description

The BCM monitors the voltage level of the door lock and door unlock signal circuits. When the driver door lock switch is in the open position, the voltage level in the signal circuit will be near 0 V. When the driver door lock switch is pressed to the lock or unlock position, a signal will be sent to the BCM requesting a lock or unlock command.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The system voltage is 9-16 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B3140 00

The BCM detects short to voltage in the unlock signal circuit for greater than 60 seconds.

B3150 00

The BCM detects a short to voltage in the lock signal circuit for greater than 60 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The door lock switch will malfunction.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BCM Driver Door Unlock Switch and Driver Door Lock Switch parameters. The reading should be Inactive and change to Active when pushing the appropriate switch.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S13D door lock switch-driver.
  2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Door Unlock Switch parameter is Inactive.
  3. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground. Verify the scan tool Driver Door Unlock Switch parameter is Active.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  6. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Door Lock Switch parameter is Inactive.
  7. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 4 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  8. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 4 and ground. Verify the scan tool Driver Door Lock Switch parameter is Active.
  9. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  10. If all circuits test normal, replace the S13D door lock switch-driver.

Component Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S13D door lock switch-driver.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 3 and the ground terminal 1 with the switch in the open position.
  3. If not the specified value, replace the S13D door lock switch-driver.
  4. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 4 and the ground terminal 1 with the switch in the open position.
  5. If not the specified value, replace the S13D door lock switch-driver.
  6. Test for less than 2 Ω between the signal terminal 4 and the ground terminal 1 with the switch in the lock position.
  7. If greater than the specified range, replace the S13D door lock switch-driver.
  8. Test for less than 2 Ω between the signal terminal 3 and the ground terminal 1 with the switch in the unlock position.
  9. If greater than the specified range, replace the S13D door lock switch-driver.

Repair Instructions
