Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement - 2.0L Diesel LNP
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Do not bend the exhaust flex pipe more than 10 degrees in any direction. Bending of more than 10 degrees or twisting in a range of ±0.5 degrees will damage the exhaust flex decoupler.
- Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
- Remove the heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement .
- Remove the exhaust temperature sensor position 2. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
- Remove the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement .
- Remove the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - front. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Front .
- Disconnect exhaust temperature sensor wiring harness plug position 3. Remove clip from charge air control vacuum hose.
- Remove both exhaust pressure differential sensor hose clips (1).
- Remove both exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) from the diesel particulate filter pipes.
- Remove the 2 exhaust pressure sensor bracket bolts.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
- Remove the exhaust front pipe from the exhaust particulate filter flange. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement .
- Remove the 3 diesel particulate filter bolts (4) and the nut (5) from the diesel particulate filter brackets.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the exhaust particulate filter clamp (1).
- Remove the exhaust particulate filter (3) and the gasket (2).
- Remove the exhaust temperature sensor position 3. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 3 .
- Remove the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - rear. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Rear .
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - rear. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Rear .
- Install the exhaust temperature sensor position 3. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 3 .
- Install the exhaust particulate filter (3) with the diesel particulate filter clamp (1) and a NEW gasket (2).
- Pre-install the exhaust particulate filter clamp.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the 2 upper exhaust particulate filter bolts (4). Tighten the 2 upper exhaust particulate filter bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the lower exhaust particulate filter bolts (4) and tighten the exhaust particulate filter bolt to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust particulate filter nut (5) and tighten the exhaust particulate filter nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust front pipe to the exhaust particulate filter flange. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement .
- Install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Tighten the exhaust particulate filter clamp to10 N·m (84 lb in).
- Install the 2 exhaust pressure sensor bracket bolts and tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install both exhaust pressure differential sensor hoses (2) to the exhaust particulate filter pipes.
- Install both exhaust pressure differential sensor hose clips (1).
- Connect the exhaust temperature sensor wiring harness plug position 3. Install clip to charge air control vacuum hose.
- Install the exhaust temperature sensor position 2. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 2 .
- Install the exhaust particulate filter heat shield - front. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Front .
- Install the heated oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement .
- Install the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement .
- Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
- Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
