DTC Descriptor

DTC P1700: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Requested SVS Illumination

Circuit/System Description

This DTC indicates the transmission control module (TCM) has set an emission related transmission DTC. The engine control module (ECM) receives the TCM information over the serial data circuit. The ECM illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or the service vehicle soon (SVS) when the TCM sends a message over the serial data circuit requesting MIL or SVS illumination. The DTC information for the ECM will only display DTC P1700, but the freeze frame/failure records data may display the transmission DTC that set.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The TCM is requesting MIL or SVS illumination.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P1700 is a Type A DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P1700 is a Type A DTC.
