Transmission Fluid Level Inspection

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

Warning: Refer to Checking Hot Transmission Fluid through Drain Plug Hole Warning in the Preface section.




2. With the vehicle on a level surface and the fluid in the transmission cold, remove the transmission case plug (1) and check the fluid level. The fluid should come to the bottom edge of the plug hole.



3. Remove the fill plug cap (1) and fill plug (2)
4. If the level is low, add manual transmission fluid through the filler plug hole until the fluid begins to run out of the check hole.

1. Install the fill plug (2) and tighten to 35 N·m (26 lb ft) and fill cap (1).

Caution: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution in the Preface section.




2. Install the transmission case plug (1) and tighten a first pass to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
3. Tighten the transmission case plug (1) a final pass to an additional 45 to 180 degrees.
4. Lower the vehicle.
